Government whip Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy, on Wednesday, appealed to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram to postpone the Telangana March.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly premises, Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy he said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has been making frequent appeals to the TPJAC to defer the Telangana March since the dates of Ganesh immersion and the International Conference on Biodiversity are September 29 and October 1, respectively.
Stating that violent incidents had taken place during the Million March organized last year at Tank Bund, he asked as to who would be responsible for a repeat of the violence during the Telangana March this year. Jayaprakash Reddy asked whether Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao or Kodandaram were willing to shoulder responsibility for any violent incidents that might occur.
He voiced fears that incidents of communal violence might occur during the Ganesh immersion.
He said that even Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy has made repeated pleas to the TPJAC to postpone the Telangana March, fearing violence. He said Kiran Kumar Reddy was also holding consultations with Telangana leaders in this regard. He said that he fears that some vested elements might incite violence to get mileage in the name of the Telangana agitation. (INN)
