Place Jalayagnam Files In Assembly: Naidu
Chandrababu Naidu once again raises the demand for placing all the files of Jalayagnam before the Assembly speaker, for scrutiny by the opposition leaders.
Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, once again raised the demand for placing all the files of Jalayagnam, including those of the multipurpose Polavaram irrigation project, before the Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar for scrutiny by the opposition leaders.
In an open letter to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Telugu Desam president alleged that there was huge corruption, delay and cost escalations that reflects the inefficiency of the Kiran government.
He said the delays have been causing immense loss to the state's exchequer. He asked as to why the government was afraid of revealing the bids of Polavaram tenders if it was not involved in any corruption.
Naidu also criticised the state government for its failure to get national status for both Polavaram and Pranahita-Chevella. He demanded that the government allow the opposition parties to scrutinise the bidders' qualifications and their eligibility for projects like Polavaram, and to sanction them later.
He said that transparency must be maintained in the bidding process as allegations had surfaced after the awarding of contracts. (INN)
