PILs Filed On Maoist Encounter By NHRC, CLC In HC
The National Human Rights Commission and the CLC filed a PIL on the encounter of 24 maoists along the AP-Odisha border in the High Court.
Hyderabad | 24th October 2016
Responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Chiluka Chandrashekar on Monday's encounter of 24 maoists along the AP-Odisha border, the Hyderabad High Court in a hearing today ordered the Andhra Pradesh police to preserve the bodies of the slain maoists till the next hearing.
As per reports, petitioner Chandrasekhar requested the Court to have the bodies moved to the KGH in Visakhapatnam. He alleged that the Greyhounds had gone ten klicks beyond their perimeter to slay the maoists, who had gathered there only for a meeting.
Instead of arresting them for interrogation, the police killed them indiscriminately, making it an encounter in cold blood, the petitioner alleged.
The Human Rights organization, too, requested the Court to register a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against the police officers involved.
