Minister for Municipal Administration Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, on Monday, announced Rs. one lakh as ex-gratia to the family members of the children who died late on Sunday night due to a house collapse.
The incident took place in the Phool Bagh locality. 3 children died on the spot, while a 4th victim succumbed while undergoing treatment on Monday morning.
Ramnarayan Reddy said that criminal proceedings will be initiated against the owner of the house, since the required permissions were not obtained during its construction.
The minister added that the GHMC has listed 737 old buildings that it considers unsafe, and has so far demolished 354 of these. He said that the authorities were waiting for technical reports on 367 other buildings.
He said that the GHMC has identified 200 areas which have been affected by the heavy rains, and has constituted 7 emergency response teams for these areas.
