Phone-Tapping: Bandi Sanjay To Appear Before SIT
In a key development in the phone-tapping case that has rocked the State, Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay is set to appear before the SIT on Aug 8.
In a key development in the sensational phone-tapping case that has rocked the State, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay is set to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday (August 8).
The SIT, which has already questioned several political leaders and collected their statements, will now interrogate Sanjay as part of its ongoing probe.
Following the interrogation, the SIT is expected to record his formal statement.
Ahead of his appearance, officials from the Union Home Ministry met on Thursday to discuss the investigation.
Reports suggest that former senior police officers also participated in the meeting.
The SIT is probing allegations that the previous BRS government engaged in the illegal surveillance of political opponents and senior state government officials. Bandi Sanjay has alleged that his phone, as well as those of his relatives, were among those tapped.
Former Intelligence Bureau chief Prabhakar Rao has been named as the prime accused in the case.
