The Supreme Court today directed former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and cooperate with the probe into the politically sensitive phone-tapping case.
During the hearing of the SIT's plea, the counsel for the Telangana government informed the bench headed by Justice B V Nagarathna that Rao, the prime accused, was not cooperating with the investigation and had tampered with electronic evidence.
Rao's counsel, however, argued that he had already appeared before the SIT nearly 10 times and was extending full cooperation.
The Court directed Rao to cooperate with the SIT to ensure completion of the probe, and adjourned the matter to September 22, extending the interim protection earlier granted to him until the next date of hearing.
