Having introduced cashless enforcement, the Hyderabad Traffic Police department has decided to send legal notices for several challans which are pending against the violators.
The legal notices will be sent through speed post with acknowledgement due. If the respondents do not turn up, charges will be framed against them in the courts for necessary action as per the law, the Traffic Police department said. On Tuesday, notices have been being issued to some violators, and further notices will be issued in a phased manner.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police has created several payments gateways for the payment of challans. Challans can be paid through e-seva / mee-seva / net banking / post offices / SBH branches / Andhra Bank branches. Information of payments for challans is updated immediately in the database maintained by the traffic police. For any queries, commuters can contact the helpline 9010203626.
Instead of collecting challans in cash, the traffic policemen now issue e-tickets to the violators, and are given time of seven days for payment. If such booked cases exceed three for a vehicle, then the police will detain the RC / license / vehicle and ask the violator to pay at his convenience for the release of the seized item.
The traffic police have also added cameras to the towing cranes to bring transparency to the enforcement, with live streaming at the Traffic Command Centre and preservation of data to introduce accountability. This has been done in view of complaints.
To improve their functioning and bring more safety on streets of Hyderabad, enforcement officers of the traffic police are being equipped with tabs to furnish data on violations and violators online to the traffic command and control room. This is intended to help further in being strict with repeat offenders. It will also bring transparency and accountability to the enforcement of rules against drunken driving. (INN)
