BRS working president K T Rama Rao today visited former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narender Reddy at the Cherlapally Central Jail, and alleged that the former legislator was imprisoned unjustly due to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's "vindictive attitude".
Speaking to the media post-visit, KTR claimed that Narender Reddy had been jailed for standing up for the rights of the poor, tribals and marginalized farmers.
"When I met him, he urged me to prioritize the release of 30 innocent farmers over his own plight. Such selflessness deserves admiration," KTR said, praising Reddy.
KTR criticized the alleged land grabs in Kodangal, where he claimed dalit, tribal and Bahujan lands were being forcibly acquired to establish a "needless" pharma village.
He accused the Congress-led government of targeting innocent people while sheltering wrongdoers.
"From Sangareddy to Cherlapally, innocent people languish in jail, while miscreants rule from Kodangal to Kondareddy. Atrocities are being committed against women, children and farmers under the guise of development," he alleged.
He highlighted the case of Sai Reddy, an 85-year-old former sarpanch of Kondareddypalli, who reportedly committed suicide after the route to his house was obstructed by a wall allegedly built on the orders of the Chief Minister's brother.
"Such incidents mirror the tyranny of dictatorial regimes. People are now witnessing the Congress government's atrocities, akin to the sins of Sisupala," KTR said, drawing a mythological parallel.
The former minister called the police actions against tribal and poor farmers "bandit-like". He also criticized the government for its roughshod handling of land disputes and alleged human rights violations. He warned that no dictatorship, including that of Revanth Reddy, could last forever.
