In spite of the efforts of railway authorities to check the spate of robberies in trains, thieves are increasingly targeting passengers in the state.
In the latest such incident, 2 passengers of Kakatiya Past Passenger were deprived of their gold ornaments and Rs. 10,000 in cash after they were coerced to eat sedative-laced food.
The passengers woke up after some time to realise that they were robbed. They lodged a complaint with the Kothagudem railway police on Wednesday.
Exactly a month ago, on July 11, passengers on the Circar Express were
robbed by armed miscreants while a few days earlier, thieves had
targeted passengers on the Padmavathi Express near Bapatla.
Earlier still, passengers of the Narayanadri Express had been looted twice while the Chennai Express and the Simhapuri Express were targeted once each.
