Attempts by Railway officials to curb the rising incidents of train robberies appear to have had no effect as yet another such case was reported from Adilabad district on Tuesday.
According to railway police, unidentified thieves targeted passengers of the Inter-City Express at Kosai village, Talamadugu mandal in the district, and made off with around 20 tolas of gold ornaments and some cash.
The thieves also escaped with some baggage of the hapless passengers.
The passengers lodged a complaint with the railway police, who took up investigations.
Early in the month,
Kakatiya Past Passenger travellers were deprived of their belongings by robbers, while armed robbers looted passengers on the
Circar Express a month ago.
Prior to the Circar Express robbery, thieves had targeted passengers on the
Padmavathi Express near Bapatla, and earlier still, passengers of the Narayanadri Express had been looted twice while the Chennai Express and the Simhapuri Express were targeted once each.
