Rajya Sabha MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy on Thursday accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of "misleading the people" of the state over the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference in the Congress Legislature Party office here, Palvai said that the Chief Minister is "misleading the people of Seemandhra region over the Telangana issue".
He added that even the Seemandhra MLAs are doing so.
He said that Kiran Kumar Reddy is using the MLAs for "political gains".
Palvai also described the claims of "defeating the Telangana Bill" in the State Legislative Assembly as the biggest lie of the year.
He said that the Bill has been tabled in the Assembly only for taking views and that there would be no voting for the same.
He said that the Telangana state would be formed within 1 week after the Parliament passes the Bill.
The Congress MP informed that he made a representation to President of India Pranab Mukherjee seeking one national project on Godavari River for the Telangana region.
He alleged that the state government argued the case before the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal only in favour of Seemandhra region.
After the state's bifurcation, he said that the Telangana government would contest the Tribunal's verdict.
Palvai said that the Pranahita-Chevella Project should be supplied with 300 TMC water and be permitted to generate 2400 MW of power.
He said that this would "bring justice to the Telangana region".
However, he stated that he "isn't against granting of national project status to Polavaram Project". (INN)
