Violence At OU Campus

Police sought to disperse a large gathering because it was against Section 144 that was imposed in the region
Hyderabad | 14th February 2010
This evening saw the return of violence at the Osmania University campus, with police having disrupted a student rally. Police forces walked in to the Arts College area, and ordered the gathering to disperse as it was against the Section 144 that was imposed in the Telangana region. A lathicharge that ensued saw some students and mediapersons getting injured.

Section 144 was imposed in the region as soon as the Telangana JAC called for a bandh a few days back.

The Osmania University JAC has said that if the police don't clear away from campus soon there will be mass suicides. KCR has said that the CM must personally come and visit the campus and take action.

The police joint commissioner Sitaramanjaneyulu has apologized to mediapersons.
