Government Halts Police Test

The government has decided to stall the police recruitment tests after Osmania students protested to solve the free zone issue.
Hyderabad | 16th November 2010
With the sub-inspector aspirants allegedly belonging to Telangana region adamant at not allowing the state government to conduct the proposed written test on December 18th and 19th until the free zone issue is resolved, the government on Monday decided to stop the test in Hyderabad zone.

According to sources, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, after holding a confidential discussion with Director General Of Police K Aravinda Rao, took the decision not to conduct the test in Hyderabad zone limits. The Home Minister is expected to make a formal statement to the media later.

Earlier, the Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee gave a call for 'Hyderabad Bandh' on Tuesday in protest against the arrest of aspirants to the posts of sub-inspectors at the Director General Of Police office on Monday.

Condemning the arrest, JAC leaders said that they would not allow the conduct of test in the state until the government made its stand clear on free zone issue.

The protestors said that the Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, who belonged to Telangana region, had become a mute spectator and a 'puppet' in the hands of Seemandra leaders.

The JAC members demanded resignation of Home Minister from her post following her failure to take any decision on the issue.
