Opposition Calls For Support For October 10 T Bandh
The Opposition Parties all requested the people to extend full cooperation to the bandh proposed on Oct 10 to protest the government's attitude towards farmers.
The Opposition Parties on Thursday all called upon the people to extend their wholehearted cooperation to the bandh proposed on October 10 to protest the KCR government's "negligent attitude" towards farmers' suicides in the State.
Leaders belonging to the Congress, the TDP and the BJP met in the premises of the State Assembly on Thursday and described the farmers' suicides as killings by the State government.
They also accused the TRS leaders of transforming the State Legislative Assembly building into a TRS Bhavan.
Speaking to the media, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the ruling party of suspending the Opposition Parties' members from the Assembly for merely demanding that the government find a lasting solution to the problems of the farmers.
He said that the entire crop loan could have been waived off by the government in a single installment by allotting Rs 8,500 crores.
He also demanded that the government extend the enhanced ex-gratia to the families of the 1,400 farmers who had committed suicide before the cut-off date, too.
Telangana TDP chief L Ramana too demanded that the State government immediately resolve the problems of the farmers.
He said that the farmers' demands were reasonable. He asked all sections of people to extend support to the bandh against the government's "anti-people" policies.
BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy bemoaned the "despotic" TRS government concluding the ten-day Assembly session within just seven days.
He also accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of behaving arrogantly by brushing aside the advice of the Opposition Parties in the Assembly, and ridiculed the CM's statement on the farmers' suicides as "catching a rat by digging a hill".
