Applying for public service employment exams is becoming as chancy as the throw of dice, what with the lack of notifications from APPSC on job openings.
According to sources, only 5 such notifications have been released in the last 17 years, with even those containing very little information. Meanwhile, students who flock to Hyderabad and spend thousands getting coached for these exams are left grasping at straws.
As per the rules, 70% of recruitment must be done directly, via competitive exams, while the remaining 30% is allotted indirect recruitment through promotions. However, in the current scenario, the opposite is true. Only, a maximum of 30% of government employees are roped in from applicants to competitive exams. The remaining posts are filled through promotions, recommendations, and crossing palms with silver.
Even the procedure for filling of this measly 30% of posts is riddled with irregularities galore.
