The leaders of the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today held bike rallies in different parts of Hyderabad to protest against the "rising unemployment" in the state. During the demonstrations, they demanded that the TRS government fill the existing two lakh vacancies in the state's government departments immediately.
Speaking on the occasion, state BJYM head Bhanu Prakash demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrshekar Rao provide employment opportunities to the families of the Dalits in the state instead of providing aid of Rs 10 lakh to them. He also alleged that the state government was showing considerable reluctance about filling vacant government job posts, and asserted that the BJP would "force" KCR to fill the vacant jobs at the earliest.
However, the rallies were soon obstructed by the police in Kukatpally's JNTU Circle area, and at the Serilingampally and Quthbullapur constituencies. This led to some tension since scores of BJYM activists were taken into preventive custody at different parts of the twin cities.
At the JNTU Circle, the protesters even got into a scuffle with the police when the latter tried to stop them from launching their rally. The police were able to thwart a similar rally at L B Nagar as well.
