The state High Court, on Wednesday, cancelled the conditional bail granted by the CBI special court to former Karnataka Minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was accused in the Obulapuram Mining scam case.
The court, while cancelling the bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy, directed him to file a petition in the lower court.
It may be recalled that Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was arrested at Bellary in Karnataka on 5 September 2011, over irregularities in mining activity by Obulapuram, granted him conditional bail on 11 May. First Additional CBI judge Pattabhirama Rao was the judge, then.
However, opposing the bail, the CBI asked the court to take into consideration the charge that Gali Janardhan Reddy had allegedly bribed judge Pattabhirama Rao with Rs. 5 crore, to grant him bail.
The High Court, then, suspended Pattabhirama Rao, and ordered an ACB probe into the entire issue.(INN)
