The CBI Special Court on Monday rejected the bail petition of mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in the case of Obulapuram Mining Company's alleged illegal iron-ore mining.
The bail petition, moved on November 2, was opposed by the Central Bureau Of Investigation, which stated that investigations into the case were on and that Gali could influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidence.
This was the sixth bail petition moved by Gali Janardhan Reddy in the OMC case. While the court rejected four earlier petitions, suspended judge T Pattabhirama Rao accepted one by allegedly accepting a bribe. After this cash-for-bail scam was exposed, the bail was aside by the High Court.
Gali was granted bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on October 31 in the cash-for-bail scam case. (INN)
