The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of V D Rajagopal, former Managing Director of the Mines Department, in the case of Obulapuram Mining Company's alleged illegal iron-ore mining.
Rajagopal, who was arrested by the Central Bureau Of Investigation on November 13, applied for bail stating that the investigation in the case was completed, and that the CBI has already filed the chargesheet. However, his bail plea was opposed by the CBI.
After hearing the arguments and counter-arguments, the court rejected his bail petition on Monday.
Mopidevi was arrested on the charges of playing a role in preferential treatment to the OMC in grant of leases overlooking other bidders. He was also accused of not taking steps to check illegal transportation of iron ore by the OMC. Since his arrest, he has been lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail, although he was granted interim bail for 15 days in October, following the demise of his father in-law. (INN)
