All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi stated, on Saturday, that his party would extend full cooperation to the State government in the maintenance of peace, law and order in the city on Sept 24th.
Talking to media persons at the Media Point in the Secretariat after emerging out of the all-party and religious heads meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Owaisi said the MIM would extend whole-hearted cooperation in maintenance of peace and harmony in the state in the wake of Allahabad High Court set to give its verdict Babli Masjid title suit on September 24th.
Owaisi said, "If the judgment comes in favour of Muslims, the MIM will not make a public display of celebrations. A public display of joy would hurt the other community and also be a needless provocation."
The MP added that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board had also issued directions to this effect.
Owaisi asserted that if the judgment came in favour of the majority community, they would file a review petition in the Supreme Court.
The MP also demanded that the state government initiate action against those who took part in communal riots during April in the Old City.
Requesting for peace and harmony, Majlis Ulema-e-Deccan secretary general Moulana Syed Qubool Pasha Shuttary and Andhra Pradesh chapter of the Jamat–e-Islami president Malik Motasim Khan echoed the same feelings expressed by Asaduddin Owaisi.
