The 5K Curtain Raiser of the 14th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon powered by IDFC FIRST Bank witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 8,000 runners participating at the Sports Expo, Hitex, this morning.
The event was flagged off by NMDC Director (Technical) Vinay Kumar and IDFC FIRST Bank CMO Shreepad Shinde.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar spoke about the importance of an active lifestyle in improving longevity and quality of life. Shinde encouraged participants to see the 5K run as a stepping stone toward greater fitness challenges.
Race Director Rajesh Vetcha announced that the marathon had received a record 28,000 registrations this year. 29 NGOs participated, with their representatives, children and youth joining the 5K run.
In a message, NMDC CMD Amitava Mukherjee said, "The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon returns bigger and better with over 28,000 participants from India and abroad. As India's second-largest marathon, we are running with a purpose - fitness is the foundation of a strong nation. Together, let's stride towards a sustainable and healthier India."
