Won't Abolish Existing Districts: Revanth Reddy

The Telangana CM said that there were no plans to create new districts either, and that Bhupalpally district would remain intact.
Hyderabad | 8th February 2026
Addressing a public meeting in the Chelstar area of Ghanapuram mandal, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that no district in the State would be eliminated.

"Additionally, there are no plans to create new districts. Bhupalpally district will remain intact. Spreading false information for short-term political gain is unfortunate," he added.

The Chief Minister visited Bhupalpally district as part of his campaign for the upcoming municipal elections. Upon arriving in Kodavatancha in Regonda mandal, he visited the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and offered special prayers at the nearby Balalayam.

He reviewed the ongoing reconstruction and development works at the temple, being carried out with an allocation of Rs 12.15 crore. He also inaugurated a guesthouse built as part of the project. Later, he visited Ghanapuram.

Speaking at the public meeting later, Reddy also said that the government would not take any decision detrimental to the Singareni workers, and that his government owed its existence to their contributions. He alleged that certain groups were spreading malicious propaganda against the government, and that it would not be tolerated.

Speaking about the Sammakka-Saralamma Jathara as akin to the South Indian Kumbh Mela, he said that the government also planned to develop temples from Basara to Bhadrachalam into tourist destinations and establish resorts in forest areas.

The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to accuse BRS leaders of extorting Rs 1,500 crore from business owners by resorting to phone-tapping, in the name of electoral bonds. "BRS stands for Blackmail Rajakiya Samithi. The party is sinking deeper into corruption. And Union Minister Kishan Reddy has become Kalvakuntla Kishan Rao, obstructing the arrests of BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao," he alleged.

He also claimed that BJP leaders were harassing the Gandhi family through CBI and ED investigations despite the latter's sacrifices. He asked why on the contrary KCR, allegedly involved in corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, had not been arrested, and why KTR was being protected in the Formula-E car race case.
