Rubbishing the allegations made by TPCC president Revanth Reddy that the State government under the influence of minister K T Rama Rao had awarded a 30-year toll contract for the Outer Ring Road to IRB Infrastructure Developers despite the company failing to pay 10% of the contract amount within the stipulated time, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) said today that the Congress was indulging in a mud-slinging campaign against the BRS government.
Speaking at a press conference, BRS MLAs D Sudhir Reddy and K P Vivekananda said that the contract was given to IRB Infrastructure Developers as per the guidelines, and there was no provision in the agreement that the company should pay 10% in advance within a stipulated period.
"IRB will pay the amount to the State government as per the guidelines mentioned in the lease agreement. But Congress chief Revanth Reddy is levelling baseless remarks against the State government, and is also trying to drag minister K T Rama Rao into the episode," Sudhir Reddy said.
He also criticised BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao for joining the chorus being orchestrated by the Congress on the ORR issue, and said that the BJP leaders didn't learn any lessons even though the people of Karnataka had resoundingly rejected their party in the recently-held Assembly elections in that State.
He said that both Revanth Reddy and Raghunandan Rao were trying to mislead the people with baseless remarks against the BRS government, and demanded that both leaders tender an unconditional apology to the people.
