Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan said that the police has not given permission to the TPJAC to hold the Million March.
Hyderabad | 8th March 2011
Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan on Monday clarified that his department has not given permission to the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) to organise the 'Million March', and has prohibited all processions, dharnas, rallies or public meetings on March 10th.
In a statement, Khan said that the widely-publicized Million March by pro-Telangana JACs and other opposition parties is likely to create law and order problems causing disturbance to public peace and order in the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
He said that the protesters plan to lay siege to Hyderabad by blocking all the roads and to go for "vanta varpu" on the roads. The large number of agitators is bound to create disturbance affecting public peace and order in the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the police chief said.
To maintain public order, peace and tranquillity in the city, Khan prohibited every kind of procession, dharna, rally or public meeting and individuals from making any speech, gesture or displaying pictures, symbols, placards, flags etc.
The city police chief warned that any person violating the orders would be prosecuted. Khan, however, exempted police officers and personnel, military personnel, home guards on duty and funeral processions.
The prohibition orders will be in force from March 6th till March 11th.
