According to sources, the no-confidence motion filed by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu against the Congress may not be discussed at the Assembly on Saturday.
The objective of Saturday's meet is to swear in the Deputy Chief Minister, Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, officials are reported to have said. And the Congress has, through the media, appealed to the opposition parties in the state to participate in the election of the Deputy CM and the Speaker.
Congress leaders explain that the Assembly would address the notice of no-confidence issued by Naidu only if time permits it.
Congress leaders have expressed nothing but indifference towards the no-confidence motion thus far, and exuded confidence that the party will survive the motion as it has the strength of numbers (155 seats) on its side.
It has been reported that a party whip has been issued to the both the Congress and the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) members to vote in favour of the Congress, in the event that the no-confidence motion issue does crop up at the Assembly on Saturday.
