Speaker N Manohar allowed the no-confidence motion against the Andhra Pradesh cabinet moved by TRS floor leader Etela Rajendra, as more than one-tenth of the total strength of the 294-memebr house stood in favour of the motion.
The motion, moved under Rule 75, said that the House has "no confidence" in the cabinet of ministers. The one-line motion was supported by YSRCP, BJP, TRS, CPI, CPM and an independent.
TDP MLA Harishwar Reddy defied his party's whip, and stood in support of the no-trust vote.
Immediately after admitting the motion, a special Business Advisory Meeting (BAC) was convened to discuss the proceedings of the vote.
Though opposition parties had said that the motion can be discussed after important issues were discussed, the Speaker said that when the cabinet faces a no-confidence motion, no other business can be transacted unless the matter is cleared. (INN)
