Nine persons were injured when a slab of an under-construction flyover caved in at the Bairamalguda junction in Hyderabad this morning.

One of them was a site engineer.

The injured people were all shifted to KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, immediately for treatment. Seven persons who received minor injuries were treated with first aid and discharged. Of the two who received major injuries, one has been declared out of danger. Treatment for the other is going on, and he is said to be under observation.

Traffic continues to move smoothly in the area.

Meanwhile, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao visited KIMS and met the injured persons, and assured them that all the expenses for their treatment would be taken care of by the State government.

The minister instructed the Special Chief Secretary of MA & UD to get the investigation of the incident done by an independent third party agency, preferably JNTU.

He also directed the constitution of a committee of Chief Engineers of the GHMC headed by the Engineer-in-Chief, GHMC, to conduct an enquiry into the cause of accident, and submit a report clearly duly fixing the responsibility.
