The Hyderabad police announce traffic restrictions for the New Year's Eve, and will crack down on unruly and unsafe driving practices from 10pm Saturday to 2am Sunday
The city police have imposed certain restrictions on the movement of traffic on New Year's eve.
According to the city Police Commissioner A K Khan, in order to facilitate proper control and regulation of traffic in the midst of all the New Year celebrations (on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday), several restrictions have been imposed on the vehicular traffic around the Hussain Sagar lake.
Vehicular traffic is prohibited on the NTR Marg, Necklace Road and Upper Tankbund from 10pm to 2am, Saturday through Sunday. For vehicular traffic coming towards these routes, detours will be provided.
The Mint compound lane adjacent to the Secretariat will also be closed to general vehicular traffic. Further, all fly-overs will be closed to traffic.
The traffic police will undertake extensive checks to curb drunken driving (with breath analysers), rash and negligent driving, speeding, triple riding on 2-wheelers and other traffic violations.
The Police Commissioner has requested the people to cooperate with the police personnel on duty. (INN)
