This bridge, when completed, will go a long way in easing the traffic at Lakdi-ka-pul, one of the most-clogged junctions in the city.

The South Central Railway will soon begin to construct a bridge beside the existing Lakdi-ka-pul bridge.
The money for the construction, Rs. 9 crore, will be given by the state government, while the Railways will carry out the construction work on the bridge. The new structure will come up on the south of the existing bridge.
This bridge, when completed, will go a long way in easing the traffic on the road.
According to GHMC additional Commissioner K Dhanunjaya Reddy, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will shift the pipeline that runs adjacent to the proposed site of the bridge. This pipeline has been the major hurdle in the go-ahead of the project.
The parallel bridge will be 120 metres long and 10.5 metres wide, with 3 lanes. It will begin at the Police Intelligence Office and culminate at the Ayodhya Junction.
The land on which the Intelligence Office is housed will be acquired, as will be some private property.
The existing bridge is about 27 feet wide, leading to traffic snarls on what is one of the busiest roads in Hyderabad.
An estimated 4 lakh vehicles pass through the bridge, which connects Red Hills and Masab Tank, and is one of the entry points for the bustling Mehdipatnam, Gachibowli and Banjara Hills areas.
Earlier, the police had made the bridge one-way, but the attempt to ease traffic flow did not quite meet the desired results due to the massive increase in the number of vehicles.
