In the latest update, the building that collapsed in Narayanguda took 13 labourers' lives. Many of the injured died while receiving treatment.
Earlier, Police Commissioner A K Khan and the mayor were present at the scene. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu spent around 1 and a half hour at the accident site, and currently, the Home Minister Sabitha Reddy is present at the location.
Naidu praised the efforts of the rescue team, but said that it was strange that while the accident took place in the center of the city where cranes and other equipment were readily available, there was not much progress on that front. He said everyone was busy supervising the operations but no one was actually doing anything concrete.
Rescue operations are still on to recover a few more possible people buried in the debris. The CM Rosaiah, who is in New Delhi, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
AP's Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the bereaved families, and Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 1 lakh for the injured.
