3 GHMC officials suspended, builder charged with criminal negligence
Hyderabad | 6th February 2010
4 women and a 2-year-old toddler were among the 12 who were buried alive under the debris of the building that collapsed in Narayanguda. Around 15 labourers were working on the 5th floor of the erstwhile City Improvement Board Quarters, when the building caved in.

Rescue teams including police, fire service personnel and civilians were all trying to do their bit but the thronging crowds seem to have delayed rescue operations, along with the absence of a unified authority.

The watchman of the place was rescued this morning.

The building had no authorization, and 3 GHMC town planning officials were suspended for not stopping the construction. The Narayanguda police have registered a case of negligence under Section 304(A) against the site owner Jalaludin and builder Yadaiah.
