Nagarkurnool MLA and Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy has finally decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Making the announcement here on Thursday, Nagam said that he would join the BJP on June 3 by merging the Telangana Nagara Samithi with it.
Nagam also announced that he would contest from the Mahabubnagar constituency in the next elections, and take on TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao, who currently represents the constituency. He added that only a national party like the BJP could create a separate Telangana.
It may be mentioned here that Nagam had quit the TDP, and also resigned as the Nagarkurnool MLA, following his differences with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on the Telangana issue. Following support from all pro-Telangana parties, including the TRS, he got re-elected as MLA, but as an independent candidate.
Nagam declined several invitations from the TRS to join the party, and was in constant touch with the BJP leadership. He has finally decided to sail with the saffron party. Recently, he also went to Delhi, and met BJP national president Rajnath Singh. (INN)
