Telangana leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy has been suspended from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), his political chariot for 28 years now.
An emergency meeting was held by the TDP politburo late Wednesday evening, after the echoing failure of the Telangana TDP Forum's Ranabheri in Karimnagar, wherein it was decided that the party's stormy petrel was to be suspended.
The meeting was convened at the residence of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, and was attended by the party's senior staff, including M V Mysoora Reddy and Uma Madhav Reddy.
"Gross violation of party discipline" is reportedly cited to be the reason behind Nagam's suspension. According to sources, those gathered unanimously demanded that stringent action be taken against Nagam.
The TDP politburo has been in a furore ever since Nagam hosted the Telangana Nagara without the party flag in Nagarkunool, on May 9th. Nagam and the members of the Telangana TDP Forum have been slinging mud at each other ever since, with several TDP members objecting to the public statements made by the former.
With several Telangana political outfits declaring that they would back Nagam if he quit the TDP, political pundits chart a multi-forked road ahead of the estranged leader. What remains to be seen is the path that Nagam will now tread.
