Telangana Nagara Samithi founder and Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday criticised Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu for undertaking his "Vastunna Mee Kosam" padayatra in Telangana region.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly's media point here, Janardhan Reddy said that despite so many requests, the TDP chief has adopted an adamant attitude and did not clarify his stand on a separate Telangana. He said that by conducting the padayatra in the Telangana region, Naidu was trying to test the patience of people in the region. He said that Naidu could make any statement he liked to gain political mileage, but it would not work as people have lost all faith in his credibility.
The Nagarkurnool MLA also criticised the Congress party and said that its leaders were known for frequently changing their stand on the Telangana issue. He said that the Congress party had wasted time by constituting the Srikrishna Committee to study the demand seeking statehood for the region. He opined that the Congress-led UPA at the Centre was delaying the formation of Telangana on one pretext or another.
Demanding that the ministers from the region resign from their posts, Janardhan Reddy said that the ministers' recent visit to New Delhi was a red herring. Declaring that leaders like Union Minister Vayalar Ravi were not capable of making decisions on the Telangana issue, he described the ministers' visit as a futile exercise. Lamenting that suicides committed by nearly 900 people for the cause of Telangana had failed to move the ruling party leaders, Reddy alleged that the Congress government has been trying to suppress the movement by foisting false cases against Telangana leaders.
