TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao, on Friday, claimed that TDP founder late N T Rama Rao was in favour of the division of Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference, KTR shared news clippings of statements issued by NTR during the Jai Andhra movement, in which NTR, along with ANR, had stated that people must live happily after dividing AP into Andhra and Telangana.
He said that the Jai Andhra movement had enjoyed the support of then film stars including NTR, Krishna and ANR.
KTR countered TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna's claim that his father NTR had struggled for the sake of unity among Telugus. Asking Harikrishna to "update" his knowledge of history, he advised him to follow his father's beliefs by supporting the bifurcation of the state.
KTR also accused TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu of obstructing the formation of a Telangana state using his party's MPs in the Parliament.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA T Harish Rao ridiculed Nandamuri Harikrishna's
resignation from the Rajya Sabha in protest against the division of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters, Harish Rao said that when Harikrishna could not live with his own brother Balakrishna, he had no right to ask Telugus to live together.
Stating that Harikrishna was wrongly trying to encash upon Telugu sentiments using his father NTR's name, he said that the former had sided with his brother-in-law Chandrababu Naidu, "who was responsible for throwing chappals at NTR".
Harish Rao said that instead of writing a letter to the public, Harikrishna must address a letter to Naidu asking him to clarify his stand.
Harish Rao also said that the TRS would not remain a mute spectator if the Centre delays the formation of Telangana again. (INN)
