In a major political development in Telangana, the BRS today suspended MLC K Kavitha from the party.
The decision follows her repeated remarks that allegedly crossed party lines and, according to the leadership, caused damage to the party's image.
A letter issued by General Secretary T Ravinder Rao and Disciplinary Committee Member Soma Bharat Kumar read that the BRS high command had taken a serious view of Kavitha's conduct, describing it as anti-party activity, and that party president K Chandrashekar Rao decided to suspend her with immediate effect.
For context, the rift between Kavitha and the party surfaced during the BRS silver jubilee celebrations, when her letter on KCR's speech created a stir. She later expressed dissatisfaction with her brother, party working president K T Rama Rao. Her derogatory remarks against former minister Jagadish Reddy, whom she called a Lilliput, also triggered controversy.
On Monday, Kavitha leveled serious allegations against senior leader T Harish Rao and former Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Rao. Following her comments, KTR rushed to the Erravalli farmhouse in Siddipet district, where former chief minister KCR was resting, to discuss the issue.
After deliberations, KCR reportedly concluded that Kavitha's actions and stance were harming the party's reputation.
