Mystery Shrouds Beautician's Death In City Studio

The death of a 28-year-old beautician, Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha, in her office premises in Filmnagar is shrouded in mystery.

According to the police the beautician, a resident of Krishna Nagar, was married to one Satish Chandra, and the couple have a 12-year-old daughter. Vijayalakshmi was working as a beautician in R J Photo Studio situated in Filmnagar. Besides being a beautician, she was also working as H R Manager in the studio.

On Monday she was stated to have called her husband at around 8:30 pm and informed him that she would be late in coming home. Though she did not return home that night, Satish Chandra left the next morning for work to a school at Begumpet where he is employed as a cook.

He was stated to have been summoned soon by the Banjara Hills Police to come to the studio where his wife was working. Upon reaching the studio, he saw his wife lying dead on a bed.

The police claimed that the owner of the studio, Rajeev, had said that Sirisha had committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at around 2 am, and that he had cut the chunni with which she had hung herself and put her on the bed.

Satish Chandra disputed the claim of the studio owner and asserted that there was no question of his wife committing suicide. He complained to the police that there was something suspicious about her death.

The police registered a case and started investigations on whether it was case of suicide or a homicide. The studio owner and two others were stated to have been taken into custody. The studio owner was also being grilled following discrepancies in his statement regarding the beautician's death. He was stated to have claimed first that Sirisha was found hanging from the ceiling fan, and later that she had committed suicide in the bathroom.
