Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Sunday claimed that Muslims across the country were supporting Gujarat Chief Minister and the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Participating in the Meet The Press programme organised by the Telangana Union Of Working Journalists at the Press Club, Kishan Reddy said that the Congress and other parties were unnecessarily targeting Modi and trying to project the BJP as communal party.
Contrary to these accusations, the BJP and Modi's candidature have been receiving tremendous response from the Muslims in the country, he stated.
He claimed that the Muslim entrepreneurs of Gujarat were extremely happy with Modi. The growth and income of Gujarati Muslims was the highest among the States in the country.
Reddy also said that it was the BJP which coined the slogan of "One Vote - Two States" in 1999, and all other parties including the Congress and the TRS started raising the demand later.
He said that the Telangana Bill was passed only due to the support of the BJP in both the Houses of Parliament.
He assured that the BJP would create equal opportunities for all if voted to power in Telangana. He said that Telangana would be developed on the lines of Gujarat.
The T-BJP president also promised to set up a steel plant at Khammam on the lines of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plan. Airports would be constructed in major towns including Khammam, and road connectivity would be improved in all 10 districts of Telangana.
He also announced the setting up of a Tribal University and a Textile Park in Adilabad.
He said that settlers would not have any problems in Hyderabad or other areas of Telangana, and they would live peacefully as other Telugu-speaking people are living in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. (INN)
