Welcoming the Serilingampally Telugu Desam Party leader Sangareddy and over 250 of his followers into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi fold, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said that the Telangana movement needs such dedicated social workers.
Addressing the Muslims at the gathering, KCR said that they are the most backward among the people of the region. He said that Muslim children are employed in cycle-shops and other menial jobs, or are forced to leave the country and live in the Gulf to earn, and that Muslims and Lambadas of Telangana are living in abject poverty.
He added that persons who have had no connection with the former rulers the Nizams, are occupying their properties in Medak, Rangareddy, Hyderabad and Nalgonda, and that these properties are worth lakhs of crores of rupees. The TRS chief said that if these properties are recovered from the occupiers, Telangana Muslims will be able to reap the benefits. He also said that Muslims stand to gain the most if Telangana is formed.
Doing what he does best, KCR then launched a tirade against Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who he claimed had assured the people of Telangana that he would support a Bill over the creation of a separate state if it was introduced, but had gone back on his words after the Centre announced the process of consultations on the issue on December 9, 2009.
Never one to miss emphasizing it, the TRS chief averred that his party MLAs had resigned from the Assembly to build pressure on the Centre over the issue, but that Congress and TDP had gone back on their words.
