Congress MP and TPCC chief Revanth Reddy today said that he always had the utmost respect for officials who worked for the people, but could not remain silent when government officials publicly said that CM K Chandrashekar Rao would win in the next Assembly elections.
"What do the real government officials have to do with politics?" he asked.
Speaking with the media at the party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy also lamented that the BRS-led State government was not giving him police security despite the High Court's advice.
"I am an MP and the State president of a national party. Will this government remove my security? When the Congress was in power, we gave adequate security to KCR. Yet, I am a man of the people, and I have no need or desire for security. I'll come anywhere without security. Can KCR come similarly to the Osmania and Kakatiya universities without security?" he asked.
Reddy added that the lakhs of Congress workers were his army and security.
Reddy also claimed that there was no difference between majority and minority communities for the Congress, and that many minority community were big positions in the Congress. He also alleged that the BRS had not done anything for the minorities, and that not a single digit percentage of the double bedroom houses had been given to the minorities by the State government.
"If you vote for the BRS, you are voting for the BJP. KCR supported every anti-people bill brought by the BJP, and there is no difference between the two parties. KCR is merely transferring minority votes to the BJP through the BRS. All the minorities are looking at the Congress," he said.
