On the lines of the financial assistance being given to the Backward Classes, the Telangana government on Sunday issued orders providing a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the minority communities (Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis).
The decision is aimed at helping the poor people of the minority communities achieve economic self-reliance.
"The State government is making all possible efforts to eliminate poverty in all sections irrespective of caste and religion. The government is already extending support to many deserving sections, and this is one more step in that direction. The development and welfare of all the minority communities is a major goal of our government, and efforts are being made continuously to wipe out the poverty and backwardness of these communities."
The action plans being executed by the government in this direction were already yielding desirable results, the Chief Minister said, and added that his government would safeguard the Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb by supporting all cultures and religious traditions equally.
