Multi-Level Flyovers, Junctions In City Okayed

The Telangana government has approved the proposal of the Commissioner & Special Officer, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, for the construction of multi-level flyovers and junctions at various important places in the GHMC areas.

The flyovers/junctions will come up at the KBR Park entrance, Maharaja Agrasen junction (Road No. 12 junction), Cancer Hospital junction (Road No. 10 junction), Film Nagar, Road No. 45 junction, Jubilee Hills Check Post junction (Option II), L B Nagar junction, Bairamalaguda junction, Kamineni Hospital junction on the inner ring road, Chintalakunta Check Post junction, Rasoolpura, Uppal, Owaisi Hospital, Biodiversity park junction, Ayyappa Society junction, Rajiv Gandhi Statue junction, Bahadurpura, Abids GPO to Chaderghat and Malakpet, Cyber Towers junctions - elevated rotary cum grade separator, and Mind Space.

The government also constituted a Project Monitoring Unit for finalising the RFQ, RFP and CA documents, to conduct the bidding process, and evaluate the bids. The PMU will seek expert assistance from experienced consultants, whenever required.

The PMU will have the following members:

The Commissioner & Special Officer, GHMC - Chairman
GHMC Engineer-in-Chief Member - Convener
HMDA Chief Engineer - Member
Representative from Finance (PMU) Department - Member

The government also directed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation take the necessary steps to reduce the land acquisition cost by negotiating with the land owners who were willing to agree for a TDR on similar lines offered to the land owners who surrendered their lands to the GHMC free of cost for the Master Plan roads.

The GHMC Commissioner will call for tenders for the execution of the projects. (NSS)
