When complaints are received from producers of movies, or suo moto, cases are registered and action taken, says Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna.
Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna assured the state Legislative Assembly that the government would take measures to curb cinema piracy.
Replying to a question raised by MLA K Kannababu during Question Hour, the minister said that close surveillance is being kept on known video pirates, based on information from producers.
When complaints are received from producers of movies, or suo moto, cases are registered under Sections 51, 52A, 63, 63A - of the AP Exhibition Of Films On TV Screen Through Video Cassette Recorders Regulation Act, 1993.
The pirated CDs are seized, and the accused arrested and remanded to judicial custody, Aruna said.
The minister said that so far, 3,924 cases have been registered in this regard. (INN)
