The CBI special court, on Friday, adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of former Excise And Prohibition minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, to 7th August. Mopidevi is one of the accused in the disproportionate assets case involving YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy.
While adjourning the hearing, the special court directed the probing agency to file a counter-petition in this regard.
This is the second bail petition moved by Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao in the special court.
Earlier, the special court rejected his bail petition on 8 June, following an objection raised by the CBI. While rejecting his bail, the court had observed that he had committed fraud when he was a member of the council of ministers, by suppressing his decision to allot 24,000 acres of land to the industrial corridor as part of the VANPIC project in Guntur and Prakasam districts.
