Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj today said that as the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the schedule for the Telangana Assembly elections, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) had come into force with immediate effect in the State, and asked all the political parties and contesting candidates to follow the norms in letter and spirit.
Speaking at a press conference, Raj said that loud speakers were not allowed after 10 PM, and that photos of political leaders needed to be removed from government websites immediately.
He also asked people to show proper documents and details while carrying cash hereon.
Raj also advised candidates to fill all the columns in their affidavits accurately, as the nominations could be rejected otherwise.
Speaking about the operational specifics of the elections, the CEC said that special facilities and transport would be provided to PwD voters, senior citizens over 80, electors employed in essential services, and COVID suspects/affected.
People could present any one of 12 identification documents while exercising their franchise, he added.
Anyone with grievances could call 1950, a toll-free number, to register their complaints, he said.
