Staunch Jagan supporter and Congress MLA Konda Surekha criticized Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president D Srinivas on Friday, for lodging a complaint against her to the High Command based on the versions of a few senior leaders.
Targeting the PCC chief, Surekha sent a 4-page letter to Gandhi Bhavan by fax. She accused Srinivas for believing in the versions of those who were making statements damaging the reputation of the party openly in the media.
"How can he recommend disciplinary action against me by believing such anti-party activist statements? It is not good. Leaders who don't have any base in their constituencies are making statements like buffoons and causing lot of damage to the party," Surekha alleged.
The former minister also sent copies of the letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and political advisor Ahmed Patel. She also stated in the letter that if the High Command believed in the words of senior Congressmen like Palvai Govardhan, Shankar Rao and V Hanumantha Rao, then the party would be destroyed forever in the State.
Surekha claimed that because of her efforts, the party base was protected in Warangal district, as the TDP had tried to attract all the Congress workers.
Reiterating that the Congress would lose its party base permanently if it ignored the family of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, she appealed to the the High Command to recognize the sincere efforts of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and utilize his services in a proper manner.
Incidentally, Surekha started the letter by addressing PCC chief Srinivas as 'brother'.
Surekha also advised media to stop their malign campaign against Jaganmohan Reddy and act in a responsible manner.
