Congress MLA Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy today criticized BRS Working President K T Rama Rao for allegedly spreading a malicious campaign against his (Vivek's) media houses, the V6 news channel and the Velugu Telugu newspaper, and linking them to Karnataka's infamous Valmiki Corporation scam.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, the Congress MLA said, "I established the V6 news channel and the Velugu newspaper to highlight the Telangana movement and address issues faced by the people. Despite challenges from the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, our media houses continued to support Telangana's cause without hesitation. After the formation of Telangana State, we exposed irregularities and flaws in projects like Kaleshwaram and Mission Bhagiratha that were being executed by the then BRS government. Even though former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son KTR attempted to ban these organizations, they were unsuccessful due to the public support we received. And so KTR tries to poison the public opinion with complete lies about these two media entities."
Vivek alleged that during the BRS regime his media houses faced discrimination and were denied government advertisements due to the antipathy of KCR and his son towards them. He claimed that there were also attempts to altogether suppress the outlets.
He also accused KTR of not understanding the difference between the V6 channel and the company V6 Business Solutions. Vivek claimed that V6 Business Solutions was based in Bengaluru, and that KTR's accusations were made without knowledge of its directors and founders.
"There is no connection between V6 News Media and V6 Business Solutions. KTR spoke recklessly, confusing the two due to the shared name V6," the Congress MLA said.
