Reacting seriously to the disruption of the 3rd edition of Telangana martyrs' memorial meeting in Mahabubnagar on Saturday, senior Congress leader and MP K Kesava Rao on Sunday questioned the need for arranging a portrait of 'integrationist' former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Telangana martyrs meeting was organised at the Zilla Parishad mini-stadium, during which YSR loyalists disrupted the proceedings in protest against the absence of YSR's portrait at the venue.
Talking to media persons at his residence, Kesava Rao termed the disruption as a 'heinous' crime and a 'big mistake', and blamed vested elements for the turn of events.
The Telangana leader alleged that loyalists of the former chief minister had disrupted the meeting in a planned manner. The former PCC chief revealed that the Telangana leaders would soon find out the real forces behind the disruption and reveal the names of the leaders, after getting a report.
Kesava Rao stated that there was no need for placing YSR's portrait at the meeting since the former chief minister was not in favour of carving out of Telangana from united Andhra Pradesh.
The real reason behind the disruption, Kesava Rao stated, was to disrupt Hanumantha Rao's speech on corruption and irregularities in the land dealings of APIIC and Emmar properties.
