Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav today inaugurated a 100-metre steel bridge near the Panjagutta cemetery.
The bridge is intended to help decongest the traffic flowing from Road No 3 Banjara Hills to Nagarjuna Circle, and cost Rs 5.95 crore to construct.
It goes over the Panjagutta cemetery, solving a major problem - improving the traffic flow without needing to take over some of the cemetery space and dislodging some graves in the process.
Most of the construction happened during the lockdown, which helped expedite things.
The ministers appreciated the efforts of the GHMC officials and the construction agency, and thanked the affected land owners and organizations who responded positively to requests to hand over land for the project.
Mayor Rammohan said that by the end of July all road widening works in that area would be completed.
MLA Danam Nagender, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Corporator M Kavitha Reddy and others participated in the inauguration.
