Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan today announced that the Punjagutta steel bridge would be inaugurated on Friday by Home Minister Mahmood Ali.
The Panjagutta main road is one of the busiest roads in the city, and in order to facilitate free flow of traffic and rectify a black spot, upon the directions of MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao, the GHMC undertook the work of widening the bottleneck at the Punjagutta graveyard (near Chutney's), as part of which it constructed a steel bridge over the graveyard at a cost of Rs 5.95 crores.
The work commenced on February 29, and the GHMC was able to complete it (including an approach road) by May 31 by deploying advanced machinery using contractors and thanks to the lockdown.
The Mayor said that the completion of the steel bridge project would facilitate free flow of traffic from the TV9 junction to the NFCL junction, decongesting the traffic there, and reducing pollution and travel time.
